Historic Mohawk River Farm With 1760s Dutch Barn and Pavilion

Mabee Farm Historic Site is a preserved Mohawk Valley property in Rotterdam Junction with a Dutch barn dating to the 1760s, eighteenth-century houses, wooden outbuildings, orchards, gardens, forest trails, a pavilion, and direct scenery along the Mohawk River. Weddings, ceremonies, receptions, family gatherings, corporate retreats, showers, educational programs, and cultural events can use the historic structures and surrounding grounds. The hand-pegged barn and riverfront landscape provide an authentic setting that cannot be reproduced by a modern barn-style building.

The barn accommodates approximately 140 guests and includes access to restrooms, basic banquet tables and folding chairs, setup time, grounds for ceremonies and photographs, and parking. Hosts select their own caterers and vendors, making it possible to customize food, rentals, and decor. The pavilion and education center may provide additional options for smaller events or weather contingencies, while the site’s orchards, historic houses, farm buildings, river, and trails create several visual environments. Most of the grounds and buildings are wheelchair accessible. Mabee Farm is particularly suitable for hosts who value historic character, river scenery, and vendor flexibility while supporting the preservation and educational work of the Schenectady County Historical Society.
