Historic Albany Shaker Barn, Meeting House and Heritage Grounds

Shaker Heritage Society preserves the Church Family site of America’s first Shaker settlement near Albany International Airport. Private events can use the 1915 Shaker Barn, the 1848 Meeting House, and portions of the surrounding historic grounds. Original Shaker architecture, open pasture, an herb garden, orchard, cemetery, stream, and access to the Ann Lee Pond preserve give the property a quiet rural atmosphere despite its convenient location. Weddings, nonprofit gatherings, educational programs, retreats, community celebrations, workshops, and cultural events can be arranged around the history and landscape of the site.

The largest configurations accommodate approximately 300 guests, with individual buildings offering different capacities and layouts. The barn provides a broad rustic interior with high ceilings, while the Meeting House offers wood floors, historic details, built-in seating, and natural light. Outdoor lawns can support ceremonies, portraits, receptions, and tented functions subject to site requirements. Public restrooms, accessible areas, parking, and audiovisual resources are available, while hosts can coordinate catering and rentals appropriate to the selected space. Shaker Heritage Society is particularly helpful for groups seeking an authentic historic environment rather than a newly constructed barn. Rental activity also supports preservation and education at the nationally significant property.
